i had a great non-holiday holiday.
tried shabu shabu for the first time. loved it.
saw the golden compass. loved it.
stayed up late learning about web development and tasting honey.
played bridge with lovely people.
saw family and kids.
i did have a next day holiday hangover from something i ate, i.e. - 12 hours of an aggressive headache and extreme nausea. i ate so many new foods, i'm not sure what caused it. but it's mostly gone now. :) |

i just watched the movie Stranger than Fiction. i enjoyed the main character, played by Will Ferrell (who I noticed is left-handed).
the movie made me feel philosophical. it also made me want warm cookies.
and in certain scenes, it reminded me of a Nickelback video.

| the Jewish Brigade |

this weekend i saw Souvenirs, a documentary that is playing in the boston jewish film festival.
the movie follows an israeli father and his adult film-maker son through europe.
the father was a familiar mixture of cranky and sweet, stoic and vulnerable, kind and emotive. the son was smart, agitated, irreverent and loving.
i laughed, i cried. i also learned a bit about the Jewish Brigade.
i give it two thumbs up. |
